Every Little Bit Adds Up – 2011 S60 Regenerative Charging
I was going though technical specs and found a bit of technology that’s rather slick. Regenerative Charging (RC) is used in our S60s electrical system to reduce carbon output and increase fuel economy.
RC is an intelligent control of the alternator charging function. By changing the alternator charge level parameters, when the driver uses the brake [...]
Rocket Science
Recently, a friend send this link to me. This is one of those stories that sticks in your throat, a ‘Hallmark’ moment. It’s not about cars; it’s about our next generation of scientists, the brain power of future America. All too often we hear about kids getting in trouble, doing drugs and other bad stuff. [...]
Just Saw a Black 2011 S60
As we get close to launch date, we’re getting more S60’s at NJ office. Out back, in our Service Methods Shop, there are a couple of black ones. Black doesn’t photograph well – at least not with my skill set – so better to show nice pretty ones and leave black to your imagination. But [...]
Cryptic Message
Last week, after posting a short history of our seat belt, I received an e-mail from Sören, a man of very few words, always cryptic. His message was something like: “What, Clive and Mary.” And that was it. No clue what he was getting at.
I sent an equally sparse reply: ‘?’. And of course, nothing [...]
Pike’s Peak takes real Swedish Ball Bearings
Good finish for Richard Bailey’s 122. Not bad for 4 cylinders.

Don’t you just love chest pounding?
Last June we launched the Volvo Safe + Secure Vehicle Coverage Plan. It instantly hit a sweet spot with our retailers and more importantly customers. Considering all we offer on our entire lineup of vehicles, with safety, competitive pricing, feature content and options, Safe + Secure was just icing on a buyer’s cake.
About the first [...]
A contest
Ok you guys and gals have seven (7 for those of us who are fixated with seeing a number number) days to come up with a caption. Awards have not been decided but you can bet it will not be a new Volvo.
Fun weekend to you all,

Racer on Sunday, FTS every other day
On a breezy spring Sunday morning just outside of Fort Worth, Texas, I found myself standing among a group of car geeks. Or maybe fans is a nicer way to say it.
Okay, fans it is.
I’m here because the day before I had been a guest of the Texas Chapter of the Volvo Club of America. [...]
YouTube – GRYNCH “My Volvo”
BE warned Grynch uses some four letter words a couple of times here but heck I’ll take it. My wife loves Rap, kind of modern poetry; feels like a heart beat and got to admit some of Rap is good, about life and dirty streets. Poetry is cool.
While back, just pounding these keys

A Volvo car ride can ease allergies
Since the mid-’60s our cars were fitted with lumbar support systems (great for bad backs) and later we added heated seats (which are also wonderful for back pain). Some years ago we started adding interior air quality improvement systems. This just came over from VCC, thought we would share it with you.
